GRILLED CORN ON THE COB

Grilled Corn on the Cob is a family favorite at my outings.  It is very easy to do and the cleanup is a snap.  The most important thing to do is to get the freshest and juiciest corn on the cob whether you go to the grocery store or farmers market you want to look for nice full kernels.  The best way to look for corn is to pull back the husk and look at the kernels if they are small and flat put it back, it will be tasteless and be very dry once grilled.  There are several ways of grilling corn on the cob but my favorite is to soak it in a pail of water while still in the husk for 15 – 20 minutes.  While it is soaking you should be preheating your grill, you can also melt some butter and add some spices so that when your corn is finished you are ready to enjoy.  Now that the corn is soaked you want to remove it from the water shake off the excess and peel the husk back just far enough to pull out the silk.  At this time you can add a pat of butter inside the husk against the corn as it will melt and run down inside the corn.  Now you can rewrap the corn in the husk.  Place the prepared ears of corn on a medium heat grill, laying the cobs in single rows as you do not want to lay them on top of one another as they will not grill evenly.  Rotate the corn as needed to keep it from getting charred too much on one side.  After a few turns you can move the corn on the cob to the top rack and close the grill lid so that it continues to cook slowly for approximately 15 minutes.  Once the husks pick up a dark silhouette if the kernels and begins to pull away from the tip of the ear, the corn is ready to come off of the grill.  Don’t overcook the corn or it will become mushy.  Now it is time to remove it and enjoy  your  grilled corn on the cob with your favorite condiments.
